Question

Country: United States of America State: New York My 17 year old daughter had a party when I was out of town. It got a little out of control. A fight broke out, it was broken up quickly at the house, but when the kids left, it started up again down the street. Thank goodness the kid did not get seriously hurt, just beat up a little. Now the cops want my daughter to come to the station and give a statement. They questioned her at my house but now they want her down at the station. They think she set this kid up for the beating. This is not true and in no way can they prove that. The question is, why do they want her to give a statement at the prescient? They questioned her at home for over an hour. If I bring her to the prescient can they question her without me present? Friends tell me that they can arrest her if she goes down to the station. I just want to do what is right. She is a good kid, straight A student and never in trouble with the law before. She made a stupid mistake that thank goodness didn’t cause too much damage. Should I bring her to the prescient? Should I let them question her again? All persons questioned will support what my daughter says, she is not lying.

Answer

They unfortunately can arrest her no matter where she is.you may want to have legal counsel attend with her at this point--
