Iraq's agricultural sector is the second largest contributor
to the national economy and employs one-quarter of its workforce. Turning to the agricultural sector, corn and soybean prices are
expected to come under pressure due to rising stocks of corn and
soybeans at the end of the 2005-2006 marketing year. As a
result, the economy contracted 50% in five years, the unemployment rate
now hovers around 70%, and the agricultural sector has collapsed. |
