cruelty to animals n. the crime of inflicting physical pain, suffering or death on an animal, usually a tame one, beyond necessity for normal discipline. | The Animal Cruelty Task Force served a search warrant Tuesday at the home of Lawrence ``Larry'' Rothfork in the 6100 block of Riverton Avenue and found the poisons and five handguns, including a semiautomatic handgun, which were confiscated, according to the city's Department of Animal Services. But isolated violations of animal cruelty laws do not justify lawless vigilantism. Black Beauty is rightly considered a classic; Sewell's story of a horse's life, told from the horse's point of view, is a moving statement against animal cruelty. |
