Assets Recovery Agency

an independent non-ministerial body which reports to the Home Secretary. It is charged with disrupting organized criminal enterprises through the recovery of criminal assets, thereby alleviating the effects of crime on communities. It seeks to promote the use of financial investigation as an integral part of criminal investigation. So it may apply to obtain ownership of a drug dealer's house. Funds equivalent to the amounts recovered are allocated to fighting crime.
