Ask a Lawyer QuestionCountry: United KingdomState: All States/Provinces I moved from the UK to America. I had some UK debt I was unable to repay and have been working with CCCS in England. I have been paying according to a repayment schedule which I thought had been approved by my creditors, but MBNA has transferred the collection of their UK debt to a US firm. Can they do that? Can that legally show up on a US credit report? I have received one call and they demanded immediate repayment of $8,000. I have received no written correspondence from them but I moved and they had the incorrect address. I don't know what to do. If I need legal representation, what is your fee schedule? AnswerThey can do it yes--but you could try to dispute all or a portion and the credit agencies may remove it.How to thank TFD for its existence?
