We report the development of subcutaneous emphysema in a middle-aged woman that occurred several hours after she had undergone a dental restoration procedure.
Despite widespread concern about the safety of silver-mercury amalgam dental restorations (Skare and Engqvist 1994), there is little evidence regarding harm or safety in the general population.
However, although Infertility and Birth Defects presents a vast collection of related scientific material, it is unable to offer definitive proof that continual leakage of mercury from dental restorations is a solid underpinning of infertility and birth defects.
