Those who survive downsizing tend to lose morale and trust in management.
Clearly, many businesses have had to cut back on staff, but we know that many are concerned about not downsizing so severely that they are too lean to manage the opportunities when the economy turns.
The downsizing plan of Evergreen is a continuation of its conservative policy in expanding its fleet in recent years, in sharp contrast to the aggressive expansion of some other shippers, many of which have built super-sized container ships with over 10,000 TEUs (twenty-foot equivalent units) of capacity.
