Question

Country: United States of America
State: New York

I was convicted of a drug related felony(federal)and have since served my time and was released this year. I am currently on probation and was recently asked to submit a done sample. Now to my understanding you are only asked to do this in relation to rape, crimes of violence, murder, kidnapping etc. I accessed the codes online from Cornell law school but my probation officer insists that it does not matter it can be any felony.

Answer

They indeed can ask for it but you can refuse as well...a court would then decide if need be...
