Flexible diagnostic laryngoscopy performed transorally revealed the presence of an ecchymotic lesion on the left tip of the epiglottis. At necropsy, gross lesions were detected, including ecchymotic or petechial hemorrhage of leg and footpad; serous fluid surrounding the heart, pancreas, liver, and abdomen; cyanosis of the oral cavity; and mild pleural effusion. Examination revealed an ecchymotic tympanic membrane and a posterosuperior perforation with exposed ossicles (figure 1, B). |
