The Air Transport Association and Marsh, an insurer, are in the process of establishing Equitime, a captive, backed by the US government as an insurer of last resort. Various government-sponsored ideas for airline cover, developed over the last twelve months, such as Equitime, Eurotime and Globaltime, wait to be re-visited in the advent of trouble. A proposed plan, Equitime, will pool the efforts of most of the major carriers in an attempt to cover the risk at a much lower premium. |
