stock option n. the right to purchase stock in the future at a price set at the time the option is granted (by sale or as compensation by the corporation). To actually obtain the shares of stock the owner of the option must "exercise" the option by paying the agreed upon price and requesting issuance of the shares. ESO said the discovery was "made possible by combining two of the most powerful ground-based telescopes in the world:" the Very Large Telescope at Chile's Paranal Observatory, and the National Astronomical Observatory's Subaru Telescope, in Japan. This decision reversed a Tax Court holding that because unrelated parties in a cost-sharing agreement did not have to share ESO costs, related parties also did not have to share these costs. This gorgeous starscape serves as the first of three extremely high-resolution images featured in the GigaGalaxy Zoom project, launched by ESO within the framework of the International Year of Astronomy 2009 (IYA2009). |
