Ask a Lawyer QuestionCountry: United States of AmericaState: Ohio I was pulled over for running a stop light, at the time, I didn't show proof of insurance because I didn't have any. I didn't know that your license was automatically suspended. I was pulled over approximately 5 months later for driving under a suspended license when a cop ran my plates. I forgot about my court date and then failed to show up to court. AnswerMake sure you get counsel (or at least the public defender) to help resolve this and to try to keep this off your record eventually--jail time is probably not likely if your record is very clear now. But having that arrest and/or a conviction on your record will make job-hunting etc. more difficult. Often this could be negotiated down to some kind of court supervision etc.How to thank TFD for its existence?
