I filed for chapter 7 bankruptcy on September 21. A law firm garnished my paycheck for over $500 on October 31. I filed without an attorney. Is the law firm obligated by law to refund the amount they garnished? If so, how do I go about getting the money back?

Yes--call them and fax the bankruptcy papers..
