Actor/ director Jones and writer Guillermo Arriaga have cooked up a Tex-Mex parable that is part Cormac McCarthy (The Crossing), part John Sayles (Lone Star), and more than a smattering of John Ford, John Huston, and Sam Peckinpah. Stepin Fetchit had a love-hate relationship with the Hollywood motion picture industry: He loved the money and the fame, and he loved being in the presence of and working with John Ford, John Wayne, Rudolph Valentino, Will Rogers, etc. The firm sources an astonishing 1,200 aging Ford, John Deere and MF tractors each year to supply this American market, where prices average $4,000-$4,500. |
