The doctor she was referred to after filing the claim diagnosed her with tendonitis, gave her a hand brace and five to 10 weeks of physical therapy, then prescribed exercises and stretches and a prescription to manage the pain.
According to Joe Young, the director of the O&P program at Francis Tuttle, they have also added optional certified fitter training into the program, teaching students how to fit soft goods such as knee and hand braces, which he says increases their graduates' marketability even more.
He is still wearing a hand brace, but said he can move his hand well enough to play without any problems.
