| Haptics have to pace around the room, they must have music or a television playing in the background and are almost constantly finding themselves distracted. The project, Surgical Teaching Tools that allow "Touch and Feel" Sharing over the Internet, had the goal of developing networked, simulated surgical environments using haptics and 3-D strategic technologies that simulate the look, touch and feel of real surgical intervention. Launched in July, Transactions on Applied Perception is a new quarterly journal whose purpose is to further the development of research in the Interaction between perception and computer science disciplines such as graphics, vision, acoustics, multimodal rendering, sensory integration and haptics. |
