Rather than Harrington Rods, a new type of rod called C-Rods, where the rods are in sections, were inserted.
The drastic Harrington Rod surgery with two rods inserted down the entire spine is hardly ever used now.
In the 60s I was probably the first to have a Harrington rod attached to my spine for scoliosis.
