Country: United States of America State: New Jersey I was living with a friend and paying rent. There was no lease and I was behind one month's rent. Now, she has opened my mail signed it for delivery and is saying she is keeping my car until I pay her. I need help on what to do. My car is not insured or registered as of today but I am planning to take care of that tomorrow.

She cannot take or keep your car--you may call the police. She needs to go to small claims court if she wants to sue etc.
