Question

Country: United States of America State: New York I have an outstanding credit card debt, from approximately 1999, in 2000 I went on permanent Social Security Disability, this income is just life sustaining at best. I have been hounded by collection agency's trying to recoup there money. (Original debt was around 1500) now with interest and associated costs it's over 5k. Today I received a letter indicating they are starting a law suit. I haven't hidden under a rock, I’ve told each caller, and mailed responses to no avail. Do I have any kind of recourse?

Answer

Were you actually served court papers?
