MANUFACTURE. This word is used in the English and American patent laws. This term includes two classes of things; first, all machinery which is to be used and is not the object of sale; and, secondly, substances (such, for example, as medicines) formed by chemical processes, when the vendible substance is the thing produced, and that which operates preserves no permanent form. In the first class, the machine, and, in the second the substance produced, is the subject of the patent. 2 H. Bl. 492. See 8 T. R. 99; 2 B. & A. 349; Day. Pat. This book goes into great detail on the subject of Design for Manufacturability, specifically how the various phases of the injection molding process can impact a part design. Sigmetrix's CEO Tim Bogard says, "Because our software reliably identifies which features in a design are truly critical to quality, it allows engineers to focus on details that most influence manufacturability. His wide experience in technical engineering will add great value to our internal expertise and the input of our existing Board of Directors and TAB as we develop a next-generation router that can address yield and manufacturability issues during physical design implementation. |
