Positivism refers to research based on empirical data and is also known as logical positivism, modern empiricism and objectivism.
Perhaps this is why the medieval "nominalists," the precursors of modern empiricism, agreed that such universals or classes were only "names" for collections of particulars.
Philosophy was a journey ftom mystification toward the light of modern empiricism.
