Question

Country: United States of America State: California In October of 2000 my stepfather passed away and I was supposed to be receiving a little under 1,400 dollars in social security every month, being the only surviving minor under his care. I am now seventeen and I just received a notice informing me that my benefit amount has increased by 4.1 percent. This is the first piece of paper that I have received as proof that this money exists. I have not been living with my mother for almost two years and I believe she has been living off my benefits. I need to know my rights and whether or not I am intitled to that money.

Answer

You may first want to contact SS staff and ask what has been happening...they will inform you.
