Ask a Lawyer QuestionCountry: United States of AmericaState: Oregon Hello. I have credit card debt of approx. $8000 between 4-5 cards in the U.S. I presume it is possible for bank accounts under my name to be found overseas easily. The bank accounts would be in either Kenya, Thailand, India, Malaysia, or Pakistan. Can you give me an idea of how long it may take for an entity to garnish a bank account in say, Kenya or Thailand? I am in the process of finding work and I have very little money to get by as I do search. I have no address in the U.S. and no assets to mention. I've had no contact with the creditors in the past 10 months. AnswerActually no, the collection efforts often will not be carried out overseas--it is often too costly to do so--How to thank TFD for its existence?
