As defined in the authoritative Black's Law Dictionary, this rule requires that, "when [a] court has once lain down a principle of law as applicable to a certain state of facts, it will adhere to that principle, and apply it to all future cases, where facts are substantially the same. She went on to add, "It has become mistaken for fact and as a principle of law that the United States Constitution requires the 'separation of church and state. Without the principle of law, you cannot build a lawful response to online piracy and you can't convince consumers that piracy is unethical if there is doubt about what it is lawful and what is unlawful. |
