My boyfriend was arrested in October for possession of controlled substances and firearms. He is looking at serious time. He was appointed a public defender. The public defender has not returned any phone calls to us for the last 2 months. His first court date is January 19th. What can you do when your lawyer won't work with you to defend you?

Answer

You may have to be very persistent with the PD--call every day twice, or if all else fails hire private counsel--this unfortunately often happens...
