Punishment for DUI?

Question

Country: United States of America
State: Florida

On Saturday morning, November 19th, I was pulled over for careless driving by the police. They then had me perform a field sobriety test and arrested me for a DUI. At the police station, I blew a number that was considered legally drunk (.16 and .15 consecutively). I've contacted attorneys and no one has given me the same answer in terms of what my potential punishment may be. I was hoping that one of your attorneys could contact me for some basic questions about what a DUI charge entails and how I can minimize its effect.

Answer

Make sure you get counsel (or at least the public defender) to try to keep this off your record eventually--jail time is probably not likely if your record is very clear now. But having that arrest and or a conviction on your record will make job-hunting etc. more difficult. Often this could be negotiated down to some kind of court supervision and eventually cleared from your record etc.
