Ask a Lawyer QuestionCountry: United States of AmericaState: Illinois I was given two disorderly conduct citations. For arguing with a guy, and cursing at the police I was wondering what the law was in IL, if I would have to face any jail time and what amount of fines would I have to pay, lastly do you think I would need a lawyer for case like this one. AnswerMake sure you get counsel (or at least the public defender) to try to keep this off your record eventually--jail time is probably not likely if your record is very clear now. But having that arrest and/or a conviction on your record will make job-hunting etc. more difficult. Often this could be negotiated down to some kind of court supervision or a fine etc.How to thank TFD for its existence?
