Released liability from car, not valid

    0.04 sec.

Question

Country: United States of America
State: California

I sold a car, mailed in the release of liability form, and before it was actually filed by dam, the new owners had already caused the car to be towed. I have been battling with this collections agency since 6/2004. They say my release of liability form dated before the towing date is not a valid form of information. They say the dam did not file the form before the car was towed so it is my responsibility. I did not cause the car to be towed, it was not in my possession.

Answer

Based on what you say here, you could probably file suit against them (or at least threaten to do so) in small claims court or in regular court; filing in small claims court is easier and requires no attorney...you could try to collect all of the costs and damages that you suffered due to their behavior... You may also report them to your state attorney general's office.
