Ask a Lawyer QuestionCountry: United States of AmericaState: Texas I am trying to get back my security deposit back from my last landlord ,I have photos of how I left the house I cleaned from top to bottom inside and out, My landlord stated that there was some can goods left in a cabinet and that the house smelled of animals. I have a small Dog that was never left out and is house trained, I would not allow an odor. Therefore she is holding the deposit. can she do this or adjust a fair amout for the left over food , Which I have photos that prove that nothing was left and that the house was clean. AnswerBased on what you say here, you could probably file suit against her (or at least threaten to do so) in small claims court or in regular court; filing in small claims court is easier and requires no attorney...you could try to collect all of the costs and damages that you suffered due to her behavior...How to thank TFD for its existence?
