Ask a Lawyer QuestionCountry: CanadaState: Ontario I signed 1 yr lease with someone. They are now wanting to leave and have someone else sign over. This was done w/o my knowledge or permission. I was given 15 days notice from my roomate which was not enough notice to come up with her part of the rent that she would now not have to owe this month. It was my roomate who had the 'good' credit to get the lease not myself, so what happens if this other person does not have good credit to sign over her part of the lease? AnswerThey are still bound to the one year lease unless you approve the change and the landlord approves too--you could even sue in small claims. How to thank TFD for its existence?
