Ask a Lawyer QuestionCountry: United States of AmericaState: New Jersey hi, my tenant broke her one year and moved out 6 months before lease ended, she did not notify me with written notice, she did not give me her forwarding address, now she wants her deposit back , but she kept my condo very dirty, , I had to re paint, shampoo the carpets, and had cleaned the kitchen,, I told her of this but she wants all of her deposit back and now she went to her lawyer, saying that she wants double her security deposit, is this possible? is this fair to me? what can I do? what can I expect of this problem?
