Ask a Lawyer QuestionCountry: United States of AmericaState: Texas My truck was reposed a couple weeks back. They said that they couldn't get into the truck and that the only way I could get the things inside my truck back was to send them the original key. So I sent my mother the key and she went to get my things. Only when she got there, she found that my stuff was already bagged up. Now I am missing some very important items that they "say" were not in the truck. Do they have a right to keep my stuff? How do I prove what was in my truck if I want to take this a step further? AnswerBased on what you say here, you could probably file suit against them (or at least threaten to do so) in small claims court or in regular court; filing in small claims court is easier and requires no attorney.you could try to collect all of the costs and damages that you suffered due to their behavior. You may also report them to your state attorney general's office. How to thank TFD for its existence?
