Though non-union companies have always competed for jobs, their underground economy is growing rapidly and, with it, their disrespect for safety laws, according to Lou Coletti, president of the Building Employers Trade Association, who claimed the trend was resulting in work place accidents and deaths that all contractors are being blamed for.
That hardly gives the whole picture about immigration in America, where success stories are largely written in the underground economy.
We are talking here about an underground economy that flourishes due to the desperate nature of those who want to work and live in a free country.
