Ask a Lawyer QuestionCountry: United States of AmericaState: Wisconsin I have not signed a lease agreement with my landlord in several years, there is no renewal clause, and we have never been told it is renewing. Does the lease still hold? For instance it states that we must give 60 days notice and rent, I recently informed the landlord that we would be leaving in 30 days be the landlord said we must pay for 2 months. It also stated that we must fill our propane tank before we leave. Am I held to these obligations still or did my obligation end with the end of the lease? AnswerIt only governs if it says it does after the expiration--review it carefully; otherwise you could have simply made a new agreement orally and the prior lease has no effect. How to thank TFD for its existence?
