In both groups anemia was not frequent and changes in lymphocytes, and platelets and band cells seem to be due to acute malaria infections while eosinophil levels were high only in intestinal parasites group.

It is characterized by two or more of the following: temperature greater than 38[degrees] or less than 36[degrees] C; heart rate greater than 90 BPM; respiratory rate greater than 20 breaths per minute; PaC[O.sub.2] less than 32 mmHg; WBC greater than 12,000 cells/[mm.sup.3] or less than 4,000 cells/[mm.sup.3], or greater than 10% immature forms (band cells).
These alerts were caused by immature granulocytes, band cells, granulocytosis, and neutropenia.
