Murray, H.A.,
Thematic Apperception Test, Manual, Harvard Psychological Clinic, Cambridge, MA, 1943.
The experiment (Thonney, Kanachi, Sasaki & Hatayama, 2004) that provided the
Thematic Apperception Test (TAT) stories analyzed in this article addressed the difficulty of replicating, in laboratory settings, the emotional states that are present during real polygraph interrogations.
The text assumes competency in administration, scoring, and interpretation of the Rorschach Comprehensive System and the MMPI-2 in compliance with available normative data and research, and some background and experience with general interpretative procedures for the
Thematic Apperception Test (TAT).
A considerable number of the systems are heavily influenced by the Murray
Thematic Apperception Test tradition, but some have their origins in quite different theories and do not involve the use or analysis of stories.
The instruments used were Rosenberg Self-Esteem Scale (Rosenberg, 1965),
Thematic Apperception Test (Murray, 1934), and Sixteen Personality Factors (Cattell, Eber, & Tatsuoka, 1970).
