The Punjab
Emergency Service rescued 16,266 victims of different emergencies while responding to 15,590 emergencies in all 36 districts of the province during Eidul Azha.
Rescue 1122,
emergency ambulances, rescue and fire services would remain on
emergency alert during Eid ul Azha holidays in all tehsils of the district to provide
emergency cover to the citizens in case of any
emergency.
"This is a unique conference which aims to highlight the importance of
emergency medicine in enhancing government efforts to better healthcare in Bahrain," said BMS president Dr Ghada Al Qasim.
He briefed that Service was started as a Pilot Project from Lahore in October 2004, and gradually evolved into an integrated
emergency services model and comprehensive
emergency preparedness, response and prevention system, established under the Punjab
Emergency Service Act, 2006, which includes
emergency ambulance, rescue, fire services and community
emergency response teams.
During the meeting, the activities of the Ministry of
Emergency Situations were also discussed:
emergency rescue operations, protective measures,
emergency prognosis, issues of resettlement from potentially dangerous areas and others.
In her talk, Dr Barbra Villona, an international
emergency physician and American College of
Emergency Physicians' ambassador to Pakistan, explained what current evidence showed about physician gender bias and why it needed to be addressed.
"This work establishes a new baseline estimate of the
emergency care workforce, encompassing nearly 60,000
emergency medicine clinicians, of whom fewer than two in three were
emergency physicians," the authors write.
It is foolish to think that we will never undergo an
emergency in life, and most of the time, emergencies cost a lot of money.
Besides having more distinctive properties and undergoing special training than those in other units, the specification of the nurses' duties, authorities, and expanding roles is essential for the effective management of
emergency patients' care and their satisfaction (1).
The
Emergency Service, Rescue 1122 provided swift response to 55 fire calls and saved those emergencies turning into a big disaster.
