CANAL. A trench dug for leading water in a particular direction, and confining it.
     2. Public canals are generally protected by the law which authorizes their being made. The ectopic opening of the common bile duct (CBD) into the stomach and pyloric canal is extremely rare, and it accounts for a mere 0.43% of patients undergoing endoscopic retrograde cholangiopancreatography (ERCP) (1); however, when present, it often makes it difficult to recognize the papilla during endoscopy.
Evaluation of frequent vomiting and food impaction was performed by upper GI series which showed mild prominence of gastric mucosal pattern and stoppage of barium at pyloric canal. Small bowel follow through and upper endoscopy were both normal.
