Umpires went to the video replay to review it and determined that it was a two-base hit. It marked the fourth time at Fenway Park that a play has been reviewed to determine if it was a home run.
A possible source for the error may have been Sporting Life since in their coverage for the first game the hits were identified as "Three-base hits" below the box score, no "Two-base hits" were listed, while for the second game Sporting Life correctly indicated the hits as Two-base hits, again due to the ground rule.
