Odorous plumes arising from livestock farms contain a variety of gaseous and particulate elements, including inhalable dusts, bacteria, mold, hydrogen sulfide, ammonia, methane, pharmaceutical residues, and animal dander (Reynolds et al. Some people are allergic to animal dander, which is found on Labrador retrievers and German shepherds, the two breeds that are commonly used as guide dogs. But the vast majority are allergic to something in their environment--pollen, dust mites, mold, animal dander or cockroach droppings. |
