Ask a Lawyer QuestionCountry: United States of AmericaState: Pennsylvania I had a credit card in my name only that put a lien on our home which is in both mine and my husband's name. can they do that? we have since declared bankruptcy and had it discharged but the lien is still there. we are refinancing and the settlement co. will not give us the money that is owed on the lien until we get it removed. our bankruptcy lawyer is a jerk and won't return our calls. what can we do? AnswerYou can ask a court to remove the lien if the debt has been discharged...the creditor is supposed to remove it if it is not valid now--How to thank TFD for its existence?
