| Parkes' work and the elucidating commentaries aim not at resolutions for the conflict, but for understanding and comprehension of it--and in this, they succeed estimably. Some of the poems, like "The Music of Anatomy" and "Don't Worry, Son, You're in the Care of Mental Health Professionals," while wryly comical, display a plainspokenness of syntax, of syncopation, estimably more muted than that of most of the poems in this and previous volumes. |
