At a time of such economic gloom, it was wonderful to see the townspeople apparently hell-bent on making the best of a bad job and enjoying what could be enjoyed.
The second reason for a bit of cautious optimism is that the action taken by the United States Treasury and the Federal Reserve over the weekend seems to be making the best of a bad job.
If you've spent a lifetime ignoring your feelings and making the best of a bad job, it may seem too late (or too scary) to do anything about it.
