Pursuing the study of remarkable correspondences between mentations and film clips can, however, be profitable in identifying the properties of film clips and mentations that are conducive for evoking experiences of remarkable correspondences.
Since the very start of ganzfeld experiments in parapsychology, there have been reports of remarkable correspondences between ganzfeld mentation and target content.
It may be that the independent judges are picking up different information in the mentations based on individual differences in judging strategy or conditions of judging.
For both the mentations generated by the random number table and by the pseudorandom process the direct-hit rate is 22.

2003; Roe & Holt, 2005) the RNG virtual receiver ran in the background during a standard ganzfeld ESP study in which a human receiver was relaxing and producing free-associative mentation.
The second change was to place more emphasis on the precognitive aspect of the task by not giving participants their target pool until after they had submitted their mentation.
Similarly, in the previous studies there was no indication that participants tended to guess the target according to what it would have been had the stock market figures been used from the day of their mentation rather than from a few days later.

Recently we reported on an alternative method for gauging any potential sender effect that promised to circumvent such complications by replacing the receiver with a random number generator (RNG) "virtual receiver" that would generate a virtual mentation by randomly selecting statements from among an array of descriptors.
The fact is, the mentations produced in the typical RV experiment (using a single-percipient/single-agent design) show that the signal-to-noise ratio can often be adversely high anyway, so that RV may often not be all that reliable: McMoneagle (2000) claims that only on five occasions in 25 years has he seen RV exceed 65% reliability, though RV may reach up to 90% accuracy.
The ranks allocated to target clips by the receiver and by the independent judge using the REG-generated mentations are summarised in Table 1.
