The defects were classified as Class II according to Miller's classification of marginal tissue recession, (25) in which the extension of the defects crossed the mucogingival junction without presenting any signs of interdental bone loss.
The mucosal incision is made just below the mucogingival junction, and a subperiosteal flap is reflected to expose the anterior mandible and mental nerves.
