Usually affecting people between the ages of 60 and 75, men are slightly more at risk, while high blood pressure is the most significant risk factor for multi-infarct dementia.
The two most common forms of dementia in older people are Alzheimer's disease and multi-infarct dementia (sometimes called vascular dementia).
There are many subtypes of this form of dementia, including multi-infarct dementia due to mini strokes.
