Additional types of child abuse are: buying or selling a child; permitting a person under 18 years of age to enter or remain in or upon premises where methamphetamines are being manufactured; and the unlawful exposure to a controlled substance that subjects a child to a substantial risk of harm.
The legal age for buy tobacco rises from 16 to 18 on October 1, and any shopkeeper selling cigarettes to a person under 18 years of age will be committing an offence.
Under this legislation, a child is defined as a person under 18 years of age.
