enteriditis had a rare phage type (PT30), which aided in identifying the outbreak strain.
In the 1950s, a penicillin-resistant strain known as phage type 80/81, first reported in Australia and Canada but later becoming pandemic, caused skin infections, sepsis, and severe pneumonia in healthy children and young adults.
