On August 15, 370 press releases were sent to national and regional trade publications; on the 22nd, a packet of materials including a cover letter from General Clay, a pamphlet on the Crusade for Freedom, and photostats of The New York Times articles and editorials were mailed to 3,780 radio and television station managers and staffers, as well as to individual network news commentators and state and local Crusade leaders.
