Byline: BY DAVID HIGGERSON Daily Post Staff MORE than 1,700 parents in Merseyside have been fined or prosecuted in just two years, after their children played truant from school.
The new study shows around one in three of the pupils who had played truant in the past year said they had taken drugs in the last month, compared with 6% of non-truants.
However, 10 per cent said they missed class because they were being bullied, while six per cent of children in the survey said they played truant because of a hangover.
